Before you start, stretch the thread or yarn to check its elasticity. Pay attention to its appearance and check its thickness and smoothness. Quality threads and yarns have uniformity of count (thickness), good lubrication, elasticity and high resistance. It is important that the filaments are well joined. It is also important to analyze the fabric: for thicker fabrics, use more resistant threads; for more delicate fabrics, use thinner threads. This way, you can prevent thick threads from damaging and tearing thinner fabrics, and thin threads from giving way and coming undone in heavy fabrics.
